For example, our headquarters in Hong Kong combines offices for management and engineering with a factory for final assembly and testing. This location also includes a warehouse that helps us manage supply chain fluctuations.
Hong Kong was an industrial centre in the sixties after which manufacturing migrated to Mainland China in search of lower costs. Now that Hong Kong is at cost parity with Mainland China for the production of higher value-added products, this facility is more valuable than ever.
It’s not only about cost. Whilst we continue to source parts from SE Asia, Hong Kong has so many advantages over other countries in the region for final assembly and testing:
- Parts can be sourced easily and quickly thanks to Hong Kong’s central location and superb logistics infrastructure
- With our own facility we can maintain tight control over production quality
- IP protection is much stronger in Hong Kong than in Mainland China or other SE Asian countries.
