It was through Iridium that Porticos Asia directors Sam Ribet and Greg Patterson met and eventually founded Porticos Asia. Through working together on Iridium handset projects with separate companies they realized the combined value of the engineering and production services provided. And so the idea was born of a SE Asian office to enable Porticos to provide a one-stop solution, from design to production.

Iridium provides satellite communication services. It is the only network that covers the entire planet guaranteeing voice and data services from the worlds’ most remote places. For over a decade Porticos Asia provided design for manufacturing and production support for the Iridium Extreme and 9555 handsets. This support included supplier auditing, industrialization, production management and quality control for a wide range of parts and sub-assemblies.
