According to the UN, by 2030 water demand will exceed supply by 40%, at present consumption rates. Consumption rates can be dramatically reduced by tackling wastage by leakages and through better consumption. In the US alone there are over 3 trillion gallons of unwanted water use yearly. 

Measuring Harmonics to Detect Leakages

Each time you do the dishes, flush the toilet or use water for any number of purposes it creates a unique sound signature. H2Know uses patent-pending technology and machine learning to translate water flow harmonics into accurate estimates for water flow and to provide leakage alerts and other insights. This data is displayed on an H2Know app for easy-to-read updates allowing you to take action in real-time.

Product Development and Manufacturing Support

When developing the first product using his unique technology Mark Kovscek, Founder and CEO at Conservation Labs approached Porticos US to provide mechanical engineering design support and later engaged Porticos Asia to provide design for manufacturing and production services for his water leakage detector. Our work for Conservation Labs included extensive studies on the type of rubber to be used for the strap that secures H2Know to the water pipe. The rubber has to hold H2Know in position over extended periods to ensure the water flow signatures can be accurately recorded.

Having developed the design for manufacturing and identified a team of suppliers for production we developed the plastic and rubber molding tooling and now manage production. For every production run the Porticos Asia team is on site for quality control to ensure the parts are produced according to the specified standards.

We are looking forward to expanding our collaboration with Conservation Labs on other ground-breaking products designed to better manage our natural resources.

Shuffle Tech engaged Porticos Asia to provide a one-stop solution, from design to production, for the UVIR-1, a hidden card marking detector. The UVIR-1 is the second product to be launched in a series of products being developed by us for Shuffle Tech. 

UVIR-1 Hidden Card Marking Detector

Cheating at cards using hidden card markings is a constant problem for gaming companies. Using specially designed glasses cheats can detect markings not visible to others and so gain the upper hand in a card game. The UVIR-1 helps catch card cheats by detecting such hidden markings. Using an ultra-sensitive camera and adjustable visible, IR and UV light sources all kinds of markings that are not normally visible are revealed.

We designed and built the UVIR-1 for reliability and long-lasting performance. The housing is made of precision CNC machined, anodised aluminium and has been engineered to be assembled using just six screws. On the inside, the highest quality components have been selected for the electronic circuitry. 

To ensure design quality we put the UVIR-1 through rigorous testing. Tests included, environmental tests (high and low temperature and high humidity), vibration and drop tests and a burn-in test.

This is truly a complete design to production solution. A number of industrial design solutions were developed for the customer to make the final selection. Following this, Porticos Asia developed and tested the mechanical and electrical design and conducted a design for manufacturing assessment. 

We set up the entire supply chain, identifying the vendors for the mechanical and electronic design and developed the quality plan for in-process and outgoing inspection and testing to ensure the quality standards are met. 

Furthermore, we are manufacturing the UVIR-1 in our own factory. To prepare for production we designed the production layout and developed the working instructions for assembly and testing of the UVIR-1.

In providing a turnkey solution we managed the MDS-6 six-deck card shuffler from concept to production. The MDS-6 is the first product in a series of gaming products to be developed and manufactured by us for Shuffle Tech. Porticos Asia was responsible for the entire project including engineering design, design for manufacturing, industrialization, quality control and shipping logistics with direct delivery to end customers.

It is mesmerizing to watch the six-deck shuffler in operation but it took multiple prototypes and hundreds of hours of testing to fine tune the design and achieve a smooth shuffling function.

Shuffle Tech asked Porticos Asia to provide a one-stop solution from concept to production for a reliable and robust automatic six-deck card shuffler. The brief was zero shuffling mishaps (blockages, flipped cards etc.) in a hundred shuffling cycles.

Once a proof-of-concept prototype had been built to verify the shuffling mechanism the industrial, mechanical and electrical design was fine-tuned for 100% shuffling reliability. Also, the design was developed to allow easy servicing with the core mechanism contained in an easily replaceable module.

For production Porticos Asia established the supply chain, identifying production partners for the plastic injection molded parts, motor, other components of the shuffling mechanism and final assembly and testing.

Not only was our quality control team was on site to monitor the first production run but we will oversee every production run for the life of the product. This way we will be able to ensure quality standards are consistently maintained and also resolve immediately any issues that arise.

In providing a complete solution we are holding inventory in our Hong Kong warehouse and shipping orders direct to end customers. In doing so we are able to eliminate the need for warehousing in the destination countries and so cut costs and shorten delivery times greatly.
